Backcountry Burger Bar in Bozeman

The chili verde burger was in my top 5 burgers ever. The poutine and cheese curds were outstanding. I would have eaten anything on the menu, it all looked incredible.

Everything on the menu is good. My boyfriend and i come here constantly. It is a great deal for amazing food. Burgers are all under or around 10 bucks - but they dont come with a side. So be sure you get some sides! The cheese curds and poutine are great or if you are looking for something healthier the kale chips! Stop in and grab a beer and a burger!

I had the Elote burger, which had a Mexican street corn style topping. Favorite part of the burger was definitely the bun- super light & delish. The fries were good... not fantastic, but the variety of dipping sauces make it fun. If you like craft beers, you’ll like the drink menu (we prefer domestic & Mexican beers). There was a Michelada at the bottom of the menu, made with Modelo, which was right up my alley (great presentation). Service was fantastic! Atmosphere A+. Cleanliness AAA+++. We’ll definitely be back to try some more dishes. 100% recommend👍🏼!

Great food, great service and great atmosphere.We were seated quickly, had fast and friendly service and the food was really tasty. Our family of 5 is often hard to please, but we were all happy with our selections.The food came out quickly, nice and hot, and made correctly to some requests we had.All in all, a great place and a great value. Highly recommend!

Food was AMAZING. Service was great. This was our first time here, so the waitress was able to guide us through what people liked, and how the restaurant worked. It was very clean, and decorated very tastefully. Check it out!

I liked the fact that you can order the quality of the meat that you prefer. It gets pricier as you order better quality, but still reasonable. Also, you have to order fries separately, which is OK. That way, if you really don’t want them, you do have to pay for them. The burger was very tasty. I also had a gluten free bun, which tasted quite good. It is a bit noisy, but not so bad that it would keep me from going back again.

The people there are really nice, and accommodating.

My burger fell apart and the bread tasted very stale. They also charged my card for double the tip that I put. The fries are good though

Great service! This review is not a review of the service, but strictly the food. The service was great. However, the food was completely garbage... go to McDonald's or Wendy's or Burger King instead. The burgers are cooked "medium" but in reality they are well done. The poutine is okay, but MAP has better poutine. The cheese curds were pretty good though in all honesty. Overall, disappointed. Bad burger, bad bun, bad toppings. Would not recommend.

Short pours on house wines at premium prices...seriously? Speed of service was lacking...at the bar? Swap out the bun and 5 Guys was just as good. Good ambiance; do I need to pay a 100% premium absent the other issues? Just saying, someone might be resting on their laurels

Really great burgers with a good atmosphere. Have only been here once, but my husband goes here a lot for lunch and is his favorite burger joint. Prices are decent for being downtown Bozeman and the service was great. Will return.

Tasty burger and really great service. Wish they would make sure to tell guests that burgers are cooked medium. Sister’s was very rare and they took care of it, but wish we would’ve known in advance. Amazing service from general manager and waiter, though. Yummy but if you don’t want medium make sure to tell server.

During a busy evening we stopped in to take out. It was our first time into the restaurant. Our order got lost in the mix. The manager took care of it as soon as he discovered the issue. He apologized several times for the shortcoming and offered to cover the burgers. We are grateful for the personal attention and offer. The gluten free bun and burgers were amazing. We will definitely be back many times in the future!!

We loved this spot. The burgers are seriously tasty. We opted for the +$3 Yellowstone all-grass fed patty and it was cooked to perfection. The topping combo options are creative and delicious. The hand cut fries are crispy and nicely salted. The Backcountry sauce was a nice accompaniment to the fries. Wish we'd found this place sooner during our trip as we'd go back for seconds. They're handling social distancing and health precautions nicely. Very friendly and attentive service. Thank you!

Wonderful staff, excellent space, great beer and yummy food at extremely reasonable prices. Just in town for the night and so happy we chose this place for dinner.

I have had bison burgers and bison in other forms on multiple previous occasions, but this burger is by far the most flavorful bison I have ever encountered.The music was just loud enough that I had trouble hearing the other people who were sitting in my booth, but a quick request of James resulted in a lower volume level and we were able to carry on our conversation comfortably.Canadian me was thrilled to discover poutine on the menu, and the French fries in this place are absolutely fabulous!I thought about ordering coffee, but I need to have cream. I was told there was whole milk on hand, but they do not carry any kind of creamer for their coffee.The kitchen successfully accommodated my allergy to capsicum peppers.The quinoa salad I ordered was delightful.I am already planning future visits to order other menu items and share this experience with friends.

Great experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Our server, Liz, guided us through the beer and food menus. We tried the haystack onion rings and the Pittsburgh. The onion rings had great flavor and were perfect to share. Delicious bun and burger with fresh, local tomato. We will definitely be back!

It was mediocre for me. I didn't find anything super special about the burger. The poutine was decent, nice hand cut fries, flavorful beef gravy, and cheese curds. Good selection of beers on tap and the server was very helpful helping my stepson pick out his first beer on his 21st birthday.

I would give this place 3.5 if I could. The food was ok, but nothing praiseworthy. My burger was undercooked and you had to pay for fries separately. The place itself was nice and service was good. Decent food if your are in the area.

This place is phenomenal. Great prices and even better food. Authentic Montana beef/bison that tastes right! Highly recommend!

Good food, fantastic beers, and a wonderful daily happy hour make this one of my favorites. Backcountry offers a relaxed, warm ambiance paired with friendly service and affordable prices. My partner and I go in regularly because its affordable, delicious, and pescatarian friendly. An added plus is they do a wonderful job of rotating through deliciously diverse beers on tap. Great place for groups or solo dinner at the small bar area. Also, my partner is Canadian and says Backcountry has the most authentic poutine in town.

Great place to grab meal. Just finished cross country skiing, come by for a beer and a burger. A day downhill, guess what come by for a beer and a burger. Enjoying the downtown of Bozeman then walk to the end and grab a burger and beer. Also the fires are excellent.

Very popular, I know, this place is packed. I appreciate more the vibe, ambiance and service than the actual food. The menu is very interesting considering that they serve mostly burgers. They come up with different sauces and styles.

Fair enough, we showed up hungry after a morning rafting, but the lunch was WAY ABOVE our expectations! Delicious burgers with original yummy sauces. The paddies, we chose a double dose of bison, were a dream. 3 choices of sauces for the homemade fries left us asking for a 2nd round. All in all a very reasonable bill for such well designed and prepared food in a nice setting. Cuddoes to John & his team.

Back Country Burger Bar has really really good food as well as very friendly and helpful staff. I love this place. Their fries are the perfect size and crunch, and they have so many great dipping sauces.

Great food at a reasonable price. Burgers, root chips, haystack onions and good old mac’n cheese. Cheap place to eat on main st of Bozeman. Kid friendly, staff was wonderful.

Amazing food! The wait can be long, but it is well worth it. Try the onion rings, a can't miss side dish. The burgers are a bit small (1/4 lb), go for a double or get a side dish if you come with a hearty appetite.

Eat Here! The food is amazing and the service is even better! Lorna was our server and was outstanding! Friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu! Ask for all the dips with the fries I'd it is your first time!

Great food, fantastic service and solid beer selection!

A solid selection of burgers to choose from. Fries are quite tasty and the severing plentiful. All prepared with locally raised beef & potatoes. They also have a good selection of regional brew on tap & bottle. A fun place to go for an enjoyable time and quality food. Recommend the crispy cheese curds with a touch of Sriracha.

Friendly service. Best beef burger due to local sourced beef, cooked to perfection,. Must try double Patty as it stacked so high you will need a fork !
